NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT & RENEWABLE ENERGY PROMOTION
Iraq faces growing natural resource challenges, largely driven by environmental degradation, conflict, and poor management. Water scarcity, fueled by reduced flows in the Tigris and Euphrates, upstream dams, and climate change, has severely affected agriculture and food security. Desertification, overgrazing, and soil erosion threaten rural livelihoods, while industrial activities have polluted rivers and farmlands.
Rezan Organization for Development is responding to these challenges through innovative, community-driven approaches. With a strong presence in Ninewa and beyond, Rezan implements climate-smart agriculture initiatives, solar-powered irrigation systems, and sustainable livelihood programs that support resilience in the face of environmental stress. The organization also promotes environmental peacebuilding by empowering women and youth as green mediators and community advocates. Through training, awareness campaigns, and practical field interventions, Rezan fosters environmental stewardship, enabling local communities to take ownership of natural resource management.
